Dr. Victor Marchione claims that "...those who drank diet soda daily were 61% more likely to have a heart event." The overall chance that you will have a heart attack is about 0.1% (1 in 1,000). A 61% increase in risk moves the odds to 1.61 in 1,000. How does that strike you?
